The Story
Generations ago, humanity left a dying Earth and made a home in the dust of Mars. The crossing was survived. The colony held. And the world they left behind became a story told to children: a ruined place, poisoned beyond repair, never to be returned to.
Everyone born since has taken that on faith. There was no reason not to.
2176
Mars is no longer an outpost. It is a civilization: built, governed, and settled into its own certainties. Its people have never felt rain. They have never seen an ocean, or a forest, or a sky that was not the colour of rust.
They have only ever seen Earth as a point of light, and been told what it means.
Born on Mars
Jack Rush is a teenager who has never known another world. Neither have his friends. They are the first generation with no memory of Earth at all, not even a borrowed one, and no reason to question the account they inherited.
Until Jack finds something that does not fit.
The Secret
Earth is not dead. It has healed.
In the absence of the species that broke it, the planet has come back: pristine, green, and thriving with life. The leaders of Mars have known. They have known for a long time, and they have kept the whole of humanity from finding out.
Earth
Jack brings together a group of teenagers and escapes Mars for the forbidden journey home, to a planet none of them has ever stood on, to see for themselves whether the story they were raised on was ever true.
What they find is more beautiful and more extraordinary than anything they had imagined.
A generation raised on a lie, standing on the proof of it.
The Choice
Now they face a decision that belongs to no one else. Return to the only world they have ever known, or stay and begin a new humanity on the planet their ancestors abandoned.
It is not a simple question. Earth recovered because people left it. To go back is to ask whether humanity has earned a second chance, or whether it would only do the same again.
And the leaders of Mars have no intention of letting a handful of teenagers make that choice on humanity's behalf.
